Harry Potter: The Exhibition

by - Tuesday, August 28, 2012

Four days ago, Mom and I went to the ArtScience Museum to check out the Harry Potter exhibit. Being a Potterhead, I pushed myself out of bed despite of my colds and headache just to get my Potter fix. One realization: being sick and being a tourist does not really go well together. Worst combo ever.

Anyway, at least the weather was nice and bright and sunny and warm. Took some photos before entering the museum.

Obviously, no one can take photos inside the exhibit, but they do allow visitors to take photos in the waiting area. Here are some (rather) blurry shots I took.
The exhibit was okay. It showcased a lot of costumes, props like wands, books, Quidditch equipment, banners, beds, and all that stuff. I was impressed with how large the exhibit was and how much movie stuff were on display. There were three activities that can be done inside: shoot quaffles through Quidditch hoops, pull out crying Mandrakes, and sit on Hagrid's huge couch seat.

You can finish the tour in about 20-25 minutes. We went back one more time just to look through everything again. We finished by buying some souvenirs from the specialty shop. The shop had a lot of Harry Potter knick-knacks like stickers, food, pens, bookmarks, mugs, tees, beanies, ties, picture frames, the Marauder's map, wands, etc. Items are quite expensive though, so if you want to buy certain items, be sure to carry around S$100 or more.

Afterwards, we went to the Gardens by the Bay, which is probably not a good idea when it's around 12 to 1 in the afternoon. /fail
Oh, and here are the stuff I got from the exhibit:
The exhibit will be until the 30th of September. Entrance fees are S$24 for adults (S$20 if you are a Singapore Resident), S$21 for Seniors 65 & up (S$18 for SRs), and S$14 for kids aged 2-12 (S$13 for SRs).
