Is This S$5 Lotso Mascara Worth Picking Up?

Lotso think about, you know?

Before we start this post, let me just remind you that this was supposed to be a 2025 post. As I said in my previous posts, I was immediately in holiday mode last December which made me not want to do anything, including this post and a few others. But worry not, those posts will see the light of day this month so yay! Now let's start.

I was in Singapore back in April '25 and while my sister and I were browsing a Guardian pop-up, I saw this small stand/shelf full of Lotso-fied products. They had lip glosses/stains, bath soaps, makeup tools, blushes, etc. all with Lotso's face on their packaging. I tell you, it's a whole range! But on that shelf, only a few items remained and while I wasn't interested on the stains or the kids' shower wash, I thought I'd try an item I'm more likely to use: the mascara, and I was even more inclined to get it because it was only S$5! I opened it in September and here are my thoughts on it!

The mascara I'm pertaining to is this Lotso Volumizing Mascara, a product that will apparently lengthen and define the lashes naturally for a long-lasting look.

(Also, I'm not sure which company manufactured this mascara but I'm assuming it's Glam Dream based on the packaging? Please let me know!)

Packaging is very, very cute not gonna lie! It's very girly and cute, with the two-tones of purple and the flowers and strawberries, and of course, Lotso. It definitely screams fun and Disney and obvi, if you're looking for a chic-looking mascara, this one won't be up your alley.

Its mascara wand terrified me, not gonna lie, because of how gigantic it is! So far, the largest mascara wand that I have is from Dazzle Me's Lock and Pop Mascara and it doesn't look too big when it's side by side with this Lotso mascara. Huge mascara wands like it don't really work on my Asian-sized eyes and lashes, and wands like this store more product which will make mascara application more clumpy and heavy. I wish they used a thinner wand or even a comb-type wand for more product control and less messy application. I also have to call out its stopper for not doing a great job of thinning out the product on the wand. The wand is so large that it stores more than enough product in it and I was relying on the stopper to squeeze out some of it back to the tube. Unfortunately, the stopper wasn't doing its job so the best I can do is scrape the excess product on a tissue to avoid getting it everywhere on my eyes.

I read from the Watsons Malaysia site (which also has more of the Lotso product line) that this mascara's formula is infused with oils and that it thickens up to condition the lashes and get them all glossy. While I don't particularly see the glossy feature, I can say that it does thicken up- maybe a little too much to my liking. I don't mind thick formulas but I draw the line when it gets clumpy and looks like I have 5 layers of mascara on when I only have 1. I found the formula quite heavy on the lashes and it's a formula that unfortunately weighs down the curl on your lashes. This kind of formula + the huge wand was not a great combo as it made the overall application all over the place and the lashes look heavy and overly saturated with product.

I do have to give it credit for being very black though! I like a true black mascara and this one didn't disappoint in that department.

So in summary: is it volumizing? Well, it made my lashes look full but I hate how it weighed down my lashes which is a bummer because I see potential with its lengthening feature. Is it long-lasting? Unfortunately, it's not because my gentlest cleanser can remove it away easily (which also answers the question if it's waterproof) and it smudges as time goes by. TBH, the only redeeming factors of this mascara is its very cute packaging and how inky black it is. So I'll now answer your (maybe) burning question: no, this mascara isn't worth getting even if it's only S$5 (or RM10, per Watsons Malaysia). Whoops!
