 SPF loaded gel? Yes please!

Sorry for abandoning this space again but don't worry because I'm back with yet another sunscreen review! I've been really good at not abandoning my sunscreens these past few months so I was really able to test this one out and for a local sunscreen, I have to say- this one's a good one! I'm talking about Dear Self Beauty's best-selling sunscreen, Aquaface!

Aquaface is "an invisible, water-rich, fast-absorbent, and lightweight sunscreen that hydrates & protects your skin from sun damage." It helps in hydrating and softening the skin (thanks to the aloe vera extract and collagen) while also providing a broad spectrum that protects against both UVA and UVB rays (SPF 50 PA+++!)

This product free from paraben, alcohol and sulfates and comes in two sizes: 50ml for ₱219 and 100ml ₱399.

Packaging is simple, clean, and straightforward, and I like that the 50ml bottle is sleek and can easily fit in my bag. Since it's a gel-type of product, the bottle comes with a pump for easy dispensing of product. As with most DSB products, the bottle also features an adorable artwork front and center!

Not gonna lie, I was already preparing myself for yet another Dailyplump repeat where the product starts gel-y then dries down into a very matte finish- turns out I didn't have to worry because Aquaface is just your normal gel-type product! Its texture, performance, and feel reminds me a lot of the Céleteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer. Both products feel light and gentle on the skin and makes it feel soft and hydrated. I'm also happy to report that this product doesn't dry down into a matte and also doesn't leave a slippery film on top of the skin. I actually like using this during daytime because it gets absorbed by the skin quickly, feels refreshing,  and it doesn't feel heavy nor hot as the day goes by. It's also perfect to use under makeup because it's oil-free, ensuring your makeup won't move or slide around!

In comparison to my other fave sunscreen, Dazzle Me's Attack on Sun, Aquaface feels more like a moisturizer than an actual sunscreen. Attack on Sun may be as lightweight and non-sticky on the skin but it has the essence of a sunblock, if you get what I mean? Like, if I were to select a sunscreen to use for a day out in the beach or in an amusement park, I'd definitely reach for Attack on Sun. However, if I want a sunscreen to use for just everyday or something to use before makeup that won't disrupt any products I'll put on top of it, I'd select Aquaface. Bottomline is, I feel like Attack on Sun is more heavy duty and more apt to use for outdoors (since it can also be used on the body), while Aquaface is more of a light day or indoor sunscreen.

Final verdict: not a bad sunscreen! Or maybe I should say moisturizer? Honestly, its texture is really giving off moisturizer vibes which is why I view it more as skincare but with the added benefit of sun protection. I like that it's quick-absorbing, oil-free, lightweight, and hydrating on the skin, and most importantly, it doesn't give off a white cast! Plus points too for smelling light and fresh, like aloe with a slight hint of cucumber. I think I now know why it's one of Dear Self Beauty's best-selling products, and I'm so glad I got it now in my stash!
