Daily Dew: Dear Self Beauty Dailyplump

Plump time.

Back in late January-early February, my skin was dry as heck. I didn't know if it was because of the weather, my lack of water intake, my consistent snacking on junk food, or my non-existent skin care (probably all of them, tbh) but my skin just felt like one parched piece of land. This made me realize that I need to start taking care of my skin more, which made me realize that I pretty much don't have a daily moisturizer. I have one for nighttime but it's one I'd rather not use for day because 1. it's heavy; and 2. I'm saving as much of it as I can until I can buy a full-size jar. Thankfully, local beauty brand Dear Self Beauty held a flash sale on ALL their products so I figured I'd purchase some skincare and makeup products I've been eyeing for a while, one being their moisturizer, Dailyplump!

Dailyplump is a gentle hydrating gel moisturizer that absorbs to the skin like magic, leaving a dewy powdery finish. DSB claims that this product was created not only to be a daily moisturizer, but to also replenish and plump the skin especially after using a serum, and to also lock in the serum’s nutrients within the skin. Dailyplump claims to also reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce inflammation and redness, and improve skin texture.

The skin actives included in Dailyplump are:

💙Niacinamide

💙Hyaluronic acid

💙Aloe vera

💙Papaya extract

💙Vitamin E

Dailyplump has 50ml of product and retails for ₱219.

Packaging is quite straightforward with this product- a clear, thick plastic bottle that showcases the product inside plus a pump and clear cap. What I've always loved with DSB is their product art which you can see front and center on the bottle. Overall design and packaging feels a little bit DIY, for lack of a better term, but understandable since DSB is a small local business.

Dailyplump's texture is quite reminiscent of all the water-based moisturizers I've tried, like the Céleteque Hydration Facial Moisturizer, the Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream EX, and the Fresh Formula Jelly Bounce Daily Lite Moisturizer. It has a thin and lightweight consistency that spreads quickly on the skin and doesn't have that greasy or heavy feel. It's pretty much like applying aloe vera on the face! I also like the refreshing feeling I get from this moisturizer while and after applying, as well as its light and pleasing scent that has a hint of aloe in it, quite like the scent of the Bubbly Skin Aloe Vera Serum!

I made sure to use this moisturizer consistently for at least a month so that I can really its pros and cons on my skin and here are my findings:

1. This moisturizer is an okay moisturizer. Look, I purchased this product primarily for it to bring my dry skin back to life. And it did- just minimally. It worked great on areas that were normal but wasn't really able to rehydrate or deal with my dry patches on the skin, which was why I needed to use a heavier moisturizer to sort them out. Which brings me to my second point:

2. This moisturizer works better on normal to oily skin types. One unique thing about this water-based product is that it dries down to a powder matte finish, which is great if you have more of an oily skin type but a bit jarring if your skin is on a dry spell. The matte finish just emphasized my dry patches so I had to layer a really creamy and hydrating sunscreen on top to hydrate them.

3. Since this product dries quickly and matte, it's great to use under makeup. (Again, if you have normal to oily skin. Don't use on dry, peeling skin pls).

4. One thing I really liked about it is how calming and refreshing it felt on the skin. Though my face felt matte, my skin somehow seemed calmer and less irritated after applying Dailyplump.

Am I glad I got Dailyplump? Yes, because it's a product I've been wanting to try and I finally get to use it and know if it works on my skin or not. Though I have to admit, its performance on my dry skin and patches was quite underwhelming. Maybe I'll like it better if I use it when my skin's back to normal, who knows, but right now, it's not the product that can solve my skin's dryness. And because of that, I'll have to say with regret that I don't see myself repurchasing this product again. It's not a bad product- it just didn't work on me for now.

On to the next one!
