Last Year's Europe Trip: Nice
Day six.
DAY SIX: NICE
Côte d'Azur is such a warm wonderful place and thankfully, it's one big place where you can visit popular places quickly. Monaco is one of the places in Côte d'Azur, as well as Nice, Canne, and Saint-Tropez. While we didn't get a chance to see Canne and Saint-Tropez (boo!!!), we were able to do a brief sight-seeing in Nice, as well as a tiny bit of Grasse.
From Monaco, we went straight to Grasse to tour their oldest parfumerie, Fragonard Parfumeur. Founded in 1926 by Eugene Fuchs, it was named after local painter and son of a master perfumer, Jean Honore Fragonard. The Fragonard firm also has a private museum in the 9th arrondissement of Paris.
We were able to see how they make and package their products, including perfumes, soaps, lotions, and oils. We were also able to browse and buy their products in their in-house shop after the tour and I got a few solid perfumes (figured they're less bulky and heavy than the liquid ones). The also gave all of us a sample/travel bottle of their lavender perfume.
I have no idea if this is a landmark at all but I thought it looked beautiful:
After that, we went to Nice, primarily to do two things: eat dinner and see the Mediterranean Sea.
In Nice, you'll see the La Tête Carrée or The Square Head. This is made by French Sculptor Sacha Sosno. This isn't just a monument- it's the first inhabited monument in the world.
I loooooooved this place even though we were just along the boulevard. The sight of the beach was just a nice refresher to all the mountains and cities we've been to, you know? Plus, the beachside totally reminded me of the honeymoon scene in Fifty Shades Freed (don't judge). Such a beautiful place, even in the afternoon.
I feel like a whole day isn't enough at all to see the marvelous Côte d'Azur. Such a lively vibrant place, pretty intimidating, can be quite expensive, but charming nonetheless.
Next stop: Montserrat!
