Singaporean-Chinese for lunch.

Happy Sunday! I just wanna quickly share with you all a current go-to lunch spot of my parents and I: Wangfu Chinese Café!

Whenever we go to SM Marikina, our usual lunch place is Peri-Peri Charcoal Chicken & Sauce Bar. We also used to go to Seafood Island but unfortunately, their branch closed. One day, we weren't really in the mood to have chicken so we checked out other restos and decided to try out Wangfu Chinese Café. The selling point? Wangfu offers Singaporean-Chinese dishes which we terribly miss already!

The Wangfu branch here in SM Marikina is quaint but spacious enough. Also, look at the decor! So cute and colorful!

Let's start with the drinks, shall we? Dad got a lychee slushie that's just really refreshing and tasty. Mom and I went for their iced tea drinks, namely their Thai Milk Tea and Hong Kong Milk Tea. Their Thai Milk Tea is really good and really reminiscent of the ones I had in Bangkok. Their Hong Kong Milk Tea is just as refreshing but the tea in this one is stronger than the other one. Both tasty, both refreshing too.

These photos were taken during our second visit here in Wangfu so we ordered other dishes to try. But our go-to soup order, no doubt, is the Hot and Sour Soup! This Hot and Sour Soup just hits all the right spots- it's spicy and tangy, it's piping hot, very umami,  and is loaded with meat and mushrooms. So good! This soup comes in two sizes but we always order the Regular (₱288) since it's already good for 2-4 people.

For our mains, we decided this time to get their Hawker Rice Tops. Dad went with the Beef with Broccoli in Oyster Sauce Rice (₱258), a tasty dish that's quite gingery and saucy. I also like the addition of mushrooms!

Mom went with the Black Pepper Beef Rice (₱198), a beef and bell pepper dish with a peppery heat to it. Also quite saucy and really good with rice.

I went and tried their Crunchy Sweet & Sour Pork with Lychee Rice (₱188), Wangfu's version of a sweet & sour dish. Instead of pineapples, they used lychees which added a sweet contrast to the salty and umami sauce. This dish isn't as sour as the traditional sweet & sour dish but I still found it nice and interesting.

Aside from rice dishes, Wangfu also has dimsum and noodles and I can't wait to try them next time! Really interested in trying their Hakaw and Laksa. Overall, Wangfu is a good resto to go to when you're craving for Singaporean-Chinese dishes. They offer quite a lot of dishes (with generous portions) and all of them are reasonably priced and most importantly, tasty and filling. Can't wait to go back!
