Brewing Brows with Detail Cosmetics Superfine Liner in Espresso
The perfect gray.
It's so rare for me nowadays to use a brow pencil to fill in my brows. Ever since I discovered the wonderful world of brow gels and soaps, I pretty much never picked up a pencil again. In fact, I think I pretty much gave most of my brow pencils to my mom who, unlike me, religiously fills her brows every time we go out. I think the reason why I don't use brow pencils as much anymore is because they always make my already full brows fullER, making me look like an Angry Bird in the wild. Most brow pencils I've tried are so pigmented and waxy, and I've even encountered some that are too warm and too brown. Like, thank the heavens for more cool ashy shades nowadays, am I right??
Speaking of cool ashy shades, there is one brow pencil that got me semi back to pencils again. Don't get too excited but yes, it's one that got me reconsidering my stance on pencils. Let me tell you more about this brow pencil I got on a whim that got my brows looking on fleek but still natural.
This is Detail Cosmetics' Superfine Liner, a retractable dual-ended hard wax brow pencil that boasts of having a 1mm superfine tip for precise application. This really fine tip will help in easily creating more hair-like strokes and for filling in sparse areas as well. You can also now blend the product into your brows with ease, thanks to its spoolie end!
This product is cruelty-free and vegan friendly. It retails for ₱149 and contains 0.1g of product.
The Superfine Liner line comes in 6 shades but here I have the discontinued (yes, discontinued! Just when I was about to purchase more of it!!!) shade, Espresso, a dark gray. I believe this is the first true gray brow pencil I've ever had since most of the brow pencils I've used were mostly ash brown. Espresso is a true medium gray that may look intimidating at first but I truly think it works really well on black hair.
The Superfine Liner was surprisingly so easy to use- like honestly, the triangle-tipped brow pencils seem harder to use now that I've used this! I love how the tip of this pencil gets into the thinnest of spaces so filling sparse areas is now easier and less messy. I also like how even though the product is really thin, it doesn't break off easily when I use it even if I apply a bit of pressure on it. It does break off from the container but weirdly doesn't when you actually use it (which I find really weird but ok, I guess.)
Another think I like is this pencil is not waxy but isn't hard to blend out. I hate it when brow pencils are waxy and creamy because these ones don't set as much and they tend to get smudged easily. The Superfine Liner, though, is a champ! Because it's a hard wax, it has a drier formula that doesn't smudge around much but can still be blended easily . Honestly, it's like wearing nothing since it feels lightweight and almost invisible! It's the kind of product that defines and fills your brows without looking too obvious. I also like that it has a light to medium pigment which gives me more room to work with even with a heavy hand!
I'm so thankful I went ahead and purchased this brow product because it's now my favorite to use on my brows- aside from my brow soaps and gels, of course! As far as local skinny brow pencils go, the Superfine Liner is a good and affordable product that performs well and looks good on the brows. Again, I'm SUPER bummed that Espresso got discontinued but at least it gave me an idea that gray shades work perfectly on black hair/brows. Espresso got me hunting now for gray brow shades but Detail, if you're seeing this: bring back Espresso! Please, please, please!
