DAY ELEVEN: LISBON

The journey to Lisbon from Seville was a whopping 8/9 hours (by bus, obvs) but it was all worth it when we got off- well, at least I felt that way. The vibe in Lisbon is totally different from cities like Barcelona or Rome; I personally felt like it was a more of a laid-back busy city than just pure busy-town, if you get what I mean. We arrived in Lisbon in the afternoon and we headed straightway to our first church.

But before that, here are some snapshots on the way!

There were probably more tourist-friendly alleyways to the church but for some reason (???) we went with this steep route. Who does that?! Although it was quite an exhausting walk up, I gotta say, the alleyway was nice. It was full of colorful graffiti and it didn't feel too claustrophobic-narrow. I would've enjoyed walking up here if we weren't in a hurry. There was a tram that goes up and down but it was always full so we figured to just walk. Nice (unintentional) cardio!

The church we went to is the Igreja de São Roque, the earliest Jesuit church in Portugal. It was built in 1506 and completed in 1619. It was also one of the few buildings to survive the country's earthquake in 1755.

The church has quite a number of chapels and most of them (if not, all) are made Baroque-style. Here are a few of them:

After our visit to the Igreja, we took a different route to go down where our bus was waiting.

One thing I really liked in Lisbon was the abundance of plants, especially in the city center. The trees and flowers all around were just gorgeous!

We next walked to our next destination (the resto where we had dinner) as buses weren't allowed in that route. Again, more Lisbon views and nature!

Finally, dinner!

My next post will still be in Lisbon, just in a new part: Belem! See ya there!
