A Must-Have Mist: Tarte Rainforest of the Sea™ Marine Boosting Mist
Citrus spritz.
Ever since I can remember, I've always used different products when it comes to prepping my skin for makeup application. I have a moisturizer, a primer, a setting spray, and sometimes if I have it, a hydrating spray. It just makes sense to have a specific product for a specific function, you know? But what if I told you there's a product out there that does all that?
One of the products my sister gave me was this Tarte Maine Boosting Mist. From the get-go, I assumed that it was just a setting spray/refresh spray but after doing a little research on it, I discovered that it's a multipurpose product. Here's a little product description:
"Indulge your senses with this portable, multipurpose mist that preps, primes & hydrates plus refreshes your makeup throughout the day. This multipurpose mist works as a skincare essence, primer, hydrating mist & makeup refresher. It soothes, smooths & softens skin with antioxidant-rich ingredients." It is vegan, dermatologist tested, and sulfur-free.
Key ingredients include: Rainforest of the Sea™ complex (a blend of algae and marine flower extracts), orange peel oil, sea water, lentil seed extract, caffeine, and coconut and lavender oils.
Personally, I mainly use it as a primer. Tarte says to use it after moisturizer but I spritz it after because, well, force of habit. After spraying it all over my face, I instantly smell a blend of orange and plants. It's a pleasant scent, this one. The product itself feels lightweight on the skin and as it sets, it leaves a tiny bit of tackiness on the skin which is perfect as it'll help my base not move and slip around that much. I like that it doesn't affect the moisturizer I applied beforehand and it created a nice canvas for my base to stick to.
Actually, as a primer alone, it already felt moisturizing. My skin didn't feel tight after spraying this on, nor did it feel dry. It just felt super hydrated and makeup ready and that's pretty great to me! I also misted after powdering my face and I gotta say, this just refreshed my skin instantly. It lessened the cakey-ness of my base and brought back a slight dewyness on my skin. And yes, it is super refreshing!
Think of the Marine Boosting Mist as a product similar to the MAC Fix+. Just like the Fix+, the Marine Boosting Mist moisturizes, sets makeup , and refreshes the skin. Oh, and both can also be used for boosting the color of eyeshadows (yay foiling!). Scent-wise, Fix+ has 4 scents: cucumber, lavender, rose, and coconut while this mist comes in only one. Also, I'm not sure if the Fix+ can be used as a makeup primer (I've only used it as a setting spray and refresher!) but the Marine Boosting Mist does a good job with priming the face, which gives it a slight advantage for me. Price-wise, Fix+ comes in a 100ml bottle for $30, while the Tarte Marine Boosting Mist only comes in a travel-size 30ml bottle for $12 (although the bottle I have here is a 7ml deluxe version of the mist).
Overall, I quite like this product. It delivers on priming, hydrating, refreshing the skin- pretty handy for only one product! Now that's one power product you just gotta have in your kit. x
