Part 5

And here is the final part of the Ayutthaya series. Wat Chaiwatthanaram is on the south west part of Ayutthaya and lies on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River. This temple consists of a 115ft prang with 4 smaller ones, as well as several chedi-shaped chapels. Wat Chaiwatthanaram was a royal temple as well as a cremation site of princes and princesses. Restoration of the site began in 1987.

As usual, we had the option to go closer to the prang and roam around but we decided to just stick to the outskirts since we were already tired from the previous sites, plus the sun was still high up when we got there at around 4 in the afternoon.

My favorite part of the temple's area was definitely the riverside! It just blows my mind that this is the same Chao Phraya River that runs all the way back to Bangkok.

And that ends our Ayutthaya day tour! I'm so glad we did this tour because we got a glimpse of Thailand's history, plus it was a nice change of scenery. I really recommend doing this tour if you got a spare day and want to see and know more about Thailand.

Ended this day with yet another glass of iced milk tea because why the hell not?
