Your Everyday Compacts: Dazzle Me Muse Pressed Foundations in Fair Enough, Natural Feeling, and Warm Mocca
New compacts in the stash!
Okay, don't hate me but this product review is, technically, a (very) late post. Whoopsie!
I, for some reason, took my sweet time writing this review and I am so sincerely sorry about that! I've had these products since January (maybe even late December wth) but I only got to recently test run them, take photos and swatches and the works, and even this review took me two/three-ish days to finalize. But as they say, it's better late than never so here are my thoughts on these powder compacts by Dazzle Me!
These are the Muse Pressed Foundations, non-cakey lightweight powders formulated especially for oily skin-types. that feel comfortable and quickly adhere to the skin. In these pressed foundation powders are natural minerals that make them long-wearing on the skin (up to 12 hours!) and non-clogging on the pores. They also have a buildable coverage that can help cover up blemishes on the skin.
These powders foundations are made of specialized porous silicon powder that make these compacts oil absorbing and sweat and water-resistant. They also promise to give you a filter-like natural effect on the skin and contain SPF25 PA+++ for added sun protection!
The Muse Pressed Foundations are dermatologically tested and are paraben-, cruelty-, talc-, alcohol-, and mineral oil-free. Each compact contains 6g of product and retails for ₱318 (but don't worry, Dazzle Me products are always on sale! You can get these compacts for only around ₱149-159, depending on the app!)
As with most Dazzle Me products, their packaging on these pressed powders are colorful, cute, and eye-catching. I think these will look really appealing to teens who are starting to get into makeup! The pink-purple combo is just on brand for the brand! On the inside, you get a mirror, a plastic removable divider, and a sponge. This is a good face powder starter pack, especially for students who want an on-the-go powder that doesn't take a lot of space in their bag.
The Muse Pressed Foundations are available in three shades: 01 Fair Enough (for light-medium skintones with a cool undertone), 02 Natural Feeling (for fair-light skintones with a neutral/warm undertone), and 04 Warm Mocca (for medium skintones with a warm undertone).
I have to say, though these shades are more for those with a light to a light-medium skintone, I like that they have warmth without looking too yellow or orange. 01 Fair Enough is my shade when my skintone is at its natural state and 04 Warm Mocca is great when I get tanner. Though 02 Natural Feeling is the lightest, I find that I can still use it as an undereye brightener and even use on the high points of my face as sort of a highlighter.
Not gonna lie, these powders surprised me so much! Firstly, these powders feel so finely milled. They're not silky per se but when you touch them, they glide smoothly and doesn't feel chalky or powdery at all. With these powders, you won't really get a lot of excess product on your sponge or brush because the powders are quite tightly pressed. Even though I pick up the products aggressively, these powders don't crumble at all. I quite like that in pressed powders because it gives me the chance to build up the powder and layer them, and this also lessens the chance of having a cakey, overpowdered base.
For texture-reference, powders like GRWM's Powder Rush, Dr. Sensitive's All Day No Sebum Blur Powder, Graftobian's Pro Powder Compact, and Nichido's Final Powder all feel like rich and creamy powders compared to the Muse Pressed Foundations. Of all the powders I've tried, the ones that remind me of the Muse Pressed Foundations is Kryolan's Dry Cake Compact. They have the same tightly pressed powder feel that doesn't deposit too much product on the brush or sponge. They both have the same thinness, though admittedly, Kryolan has a fuller coverage than Dazzle Me's.
Here's me wearing a combination of Warm Mocca and Fair Enough. I used Warm Mocca on the outer perimeters of my face and Fair Enough on the inner parts, like my undereyes and central forehead area. On my skintone, Fair Enough is great as a highlighting shade and concealing setter since its cool, quite peachy tone helps brighten up the skin. Warm Mocca, on the other hand, is a nice light medium warm beige that is great for setting my base. These two shades work well on me, indeed!
Application with a brush is quite quick and easy, and as I've said before, their really isn't much fallout with these powders. I find that two layers of these pressed foundation is the perfect amount to set your base. If you pack the powder too much, especially on the underyes, it'll look dry and almost cakey so yes, two layers is best.
Now if you want more coverage or you want to use the powders on their own, I highly recommend using a powder puff as the applicator instead of a disposable sponge. I personally use the puff in my GRWM compact with these pressed foundations and it works wonderfully! A powder puff just makes the foundation look more diffused and it somehow doesn't highlight the textures on my skin too much. Also, with the powder puff, I get to push the powder into my skin, making it look more skin-like instead of the powder just sitting on top of my face. The coverage I got with a puff was a medium after two layers.
I have to say, I absolutely love how blurring these powders are! They do indeed give that filter-like blurring effect that gives my skin such a lovely look. I also like how these powders remove any shininess on my skin without looking too matte and drying. On that front, yeah, these powders do a good job! When used solely as a base, they quickly mattify the skin and offer a decent amount of coverage. As for oil-control, I find them adequate. I have combination-oily skin at the moment and these powders can hold my oils at bay for around two to three hours before I feel the need to blot. Not bad!
Lastly, these powders, like other Dazzle Me products, smell so good! They smell sweet and kind of melon-y, which I love! I know some people don't like fragranced products but I find the scent of these irresistible!
After testing the powders out, I feel like the Muse Pressed Foundations function more like setting powders than powder foundations. These powders' thin and smooth-feeling texture, plus their oil-control feature are the makings of a good setting powder, aren't they? Plus, their coverage is quite sheer to begin with, which is perfect to set a base without altering the color too much. Overall, if you're looking for a powder foundation with a full coverage that you can use like a mineral powder foundation, then you'll find that the Muse Pressed Foundations are a let down. However, if you're looking for a nice, affordable setting powder that'll remove shine, have a blurring effect on the skin, and offers enough coverage to even out your base, then these compacts are worth looking into. They're also great for everyday use and yes, I find they're great for touch ups! Just keep in mind that they may have a little bit of flashback since these powders have SPF!
