5 Drinks That Keep Me Cool
Icy's best.
HELLO, SCORCHING HEAT! I see you're still here! Well, I don't know about you but I'm definitely sweating right now, even if I'm just sitting here in my room making this post with an electric fan all to myself. Not gonna lie, I'm running out of ways to beat the heat. Showers and AC only help so much, you know? One thing that's always in my mind is to keep myself hydrated at all times. I make sure I get my liquids in everyday because you know what's not cute? Dehydration. Liquids nowadays are not only for quenching thirst anymore- they're also a way of cooling down the body temp and to keep you refreshed and in a way, relaxed.
Here are my go-to beverages that I love having to beat the heat!
1. Iced coffee
I know I said I'm more of a hot coffee person, and I still am- except in the afternoons when the heat is at an all time high. I'm usually a hot mug of earl grey tea in the afternoon but guuurl, with this heat, I can't! The habit of making cold brew started when I had Bigain Hill's French Roast coffee bags and then I guess it stuck because up to now I love making a glass of iced coffee. I just love the combo of milk and coffee with a hint of sweetness and loads of ice! It's the perfect pick me up in the afternoon and I freaking love it!
2. Rite & Lite
Ice cold sodas are great for cooling down although they're not the healthiest to have everyday since they're packed with sugar. I now treat sodas as a treat- okay to have every once in a while but not an everyday beverage. Whenever I crave for soda, my go-to is now Rite & Lite. Absolutely love that it tastes like soda (like a less sweeter version of a soda) but has zero calories and sugar. Really love the flavors they have but my favorite and most bought are the peach, lemon and lime, rootbeer, and cucumber flavors. Yum!
3. Berocca
I know, I know- who the heck considers a vitamin drink as a refreshing summer beverage? Well, I do. Berocca is a part of my everyday routine and I treat it like fruit juice but one that's packed with vitamins and minerals, you know?. Yes I just have it once a day but I make damn sure that it's a hella refreshing glass. Have you tried Berocca Citrus with a glass full of ice? Ahhh refreshing (and immune system boosting!) AF.
4. Pure-C
My parents are obsessed with this calamansi juice and for good reason! This ready to drink beverage has the right amount of sweetness and tartness with a hint of bitterness all in one bottle, plus calamansi is also rich in Vitamin C so immune boost for the win! We love putting the bottles in the freezer because when we take it out after a few hours, the juice develops this slushie-like texture that's just icy and cold and sooo good! 10/10 would recommend!
5. WATER
Out of all drinkable liquids, nothing beats water! Water is the healthiest, purest thing to drink and it just hydrates and supports all organs, internal and external (you can definitely see the wonders of water on the skin. It's amazing!). I know water's boring but boring's good sometimes! Water is a staple for me; I have it every time I workout, I eat, I travel, I take my meds- water's pretty much a part of our everyday lives, more so during humid and dry seasons, so make sure to always drink up as much as you can and as often as you can!
If you like to make water a little less boring, you can always add lemon slices to it, or even cucumber, strawberry, and/or orange slices. Iced water's just the best way to have it so load up, especially when times get hotter and hotter.
Speaking of always keeping hydrated, I make sure I have a water bottle with me at all times so I can drink up and make sure my water intake's on track. My bottle's a 750ml bottle but I just wish I have a larger, cuter jug! Like this 64 oz water bottle with straw from KeepTo- isn't it the cutest? It's available in a number of color gradients, plus it has those time stamps with motivational words to keep you going! I've always wanted a jug with that design! Will definitely have to check this out!
And that's it! Hope this list helps you get and stay hydrated, especially during these hot and humid days. Keep cool, everyone!
PS. Yes, milk tea's not in this list mainly because I'm not a milk tea person, haha! I only have it whenever I see Gong Cha. So maybe, like once or twice a year? I'm a creature of habit so whenever I have milktea, it's always earl grey with 50% sugar and always with pearls, just in case you're wondering. Cheers!
