The Blurb on L'Oreal's True Match Blur Cream
Testing a blurring primer.
I think I can safely say that I'm pretty dependent on makeup primers. I honestly feel weird when I don't apply it before pretty much everything and I am weirded out by people who don't use it. Makeup primers are essential in your makeup routine because they make your face base ready by smoothing your skin, keeping oil at bay, and by giving your base something to stick on to. Some are color-correcting, some offer a brightening effect, some are for heavy duty oil control. In the ever-growing beauty industry, I'm pretty sure there's a primer for every skin need out there, which makes makeup primer hunting and trying so exciting.
Here I have a primer that has a blurring effect. Or so it says.
I was looking for a makeup primer to try last year and thankfully, L'Oreal held a sale on their products so I was able to pick up the True Match Blur Cream. This primer claims to have a micro blur technology that optically smooths pores which gives the face a perfect surface and a soft blur appearance. It also claims to have non-greasy and weightless texture for a barely there feeling on the skin.
This primer is definitely silicone-based as it really feels like it. What intrigues me is the tint, though. The primer has skintone tint! Most primers are either white or transparent/translucent, but not tinted. However, don't be bothered as it doesn't really have coverage and doesn't really alter your skin's hue.
The Blur Cream feels velvety on the skin and doesn't feel sticky when applied and when set. It isn't greasy and it does feel very lightweight. I noticed no scent as well. I also like how sleek the packaging is. It isn't too bulky but doesn't feel or look cheap. I quite like the squeeze tube, too. However, the primer seems to clot a bit so be careful in squeezing out the product because if you squeeze hard and clumsily, the product will come rushing out like nobody's business.
Since it's a blurring primer specifically for visible pores, I tried it out on my own problem areas.

In all honesty, I didn't feel nor see its blurring effects. Are my eyes tricking me or did it really not blur my pores? You judge.
So the blurring effect is a bust but let's talk about its other redeeming qualities, shall we? I quite like how it feels on the skin. It definitely does a good job in smoothing the skin, and I'm all about the smooth skin life. Admittedly, it does give the skin a soft focus effect. You know what newly blotted skin looks like? Matte and freshened up? Yep, that's how this primer looks on the skin after application.
I've tried this primer with a lightweight base and a heavy coverage one and in my opinion, the Blur Cream is better paired with lightweight bases like BB/CC Creams or mineral foundations The staying power is just better with these bases. Since this primer offers a blurring effect, don't expect much on its color correction or oil control, especially on its oil control.
Overall, this primer is a good one to use if you have a normal to dry skin type and if you aren't allergic to silicone. It's a good everyday casual primer to use underneath sheer to medium coverage bases. I like the smoothing, soft blur effect it gives and the healthy mattified skin after application. It's definitely not for controlling oil but more for smoothing and keeping dry patches at bay. Oh, and I'm pretty sure the pore blurring effect is non-existent, k tnx bye.
