Volume and Length: Guerlain Noir G de Exceptional Complete Mascara

Looking though my archives, my last mascara review was back in March 2019 where I RAVED about Benefit Cosmetics' Roller Lash Mascara because it made my lashes look real good (seriously, can't recommend that mascara enough). I haven't been able to review a new one because I don't really buy and try out different mascaras like I do with lippies. With mascara, I tend to stick to the ones I've tried, tested, and really liked, ones that actually stay, keep my stick straight lashes curled and lengthened, and are waterproof. I'm pretty happy with just having 2 or 3 mascaras in my stash, to be honest.
10 months after my last mascara feature, I have a new one to share, thanks my rummaging through my stash last month for decluttering. I honestly forgot I had this haha!
Here I have the Guerlain Noir G de Exceptional Complete Mascara. Please note that this is the sample version of the product- the full-sized version is much prettier, classier, and more interesting.

The one I have is in 01 Noir which I think is the only shade of this mascara. The formula isn't thin and watery which I absolutely like because this means it sets faster and it's easier to work with. The brush of the mascara (the sample anyway) is a classic one that's quite fluffy and big. This type of mascara tends to be the brush of choice of volumizing ones.
This mascara is also a refillable mascara. I have no idea how that works but I'm assuming you'll have to go to Guerlain counters to have it refilled? Also no idea how much the refill costs. Well, this only applies to the full-size so really, not a problem for me haha!
As written in its description, this mascara offers volumizing, lengthening and curling, all of which are badly needed by my stick straight lashes. Above are photos of the mascara applied after curling with a lash curler. As you can see, the Noir G delivers on the volume and length. I absolutely love how it made my lashes look fuller and longer than normal. However, this mascara can weigh down the curl and make your lashes look too spidery if you apply it on too thickly. But I gotta say, for an everyday mascara, this one does the job brilliantly.
It volumizes, lengthens, and curls- what can't it do? Well, I can say for certain and from experience that this mascara isn't waterproof at all. I easily cleaned it off with my current facial cleanser and that removed everything, didn't need to go back with a makeup remover. Because of the fact that it's not waterproof, I won't recommend using this on occasions where you'll come in contact with water or any liquids in general that'll make you rub your eyes because you'll end up with raccoon eyes. But other than that, this mascara's not at all bad.
The full-size product is around USD$52, definitely pricey for a 6.5g tube. I personally won't buy this full-sized because even though I liked the volumizing, lengething, and curling part of it, the fact that it's not waterproof is a big factor for me. I don't like he risk of it smudging and flaking all over, you know? Plus, there are cheaper alternatives out there that does the same job but are waterproof. Overall, a good everyday mascara but something I won't reach for all the time, specially on special occasions or outdoor events.
