The Hand Cream I Currently Freaking Love
A new product has been added to my nightly skincare routine and it's the bomb.
Real talk: I've never been a hand lotion kind of girl. I keep it simple and fuss-free at life, you know? I never thought the day would come when I would actually rave about a hand cream...all because of my cuticles.
See, I'm conscious about my cuticles now because, well, I paint my nails a lot and I take photos of it a lot. (#Doitfortheblog) Every time I see photos of nail b/vloggers, I can't help but be jealous of how healthy and neat their cuticles look. So I decided to test the waters and start using plain body lotion on my hands first. My cuticles got a tad better but you know what the game changer was? Yep, you guessed it: hand cream.
I've been using The Body Shop's Almond Hand & Nail Butter for a few weeks now and holy friggin crap, it changed my hand game. First of all, I love the smell of this product. It exudes a natural almond scent, which I really appreciate because I'm not having any of those artificial scents. It smells natural and not at all pungent. It's a scent I don't mind lingering on my hands after 5 hours or so.
The texture is like your standard cream that's neither thick nor thin. It spreads easily and it's fantastic at moisturizing, thanks to the sweet almond oil, shea butter (Community Trade Fair, mind you), soya oil, and beeswax in it. It's the type of product that doesn't evaporate/dry out/sink in easily. It takes a lot of rubbing to lessen the lotion-y/greasy feeling but I do like the feeling of a little grease on my hands. You can easily feel the aftermath though because your skin will feel like a baby's bottom so you can bet that all your rubbing work was worth it.
Now how do I use it? I use it every night. Yes, nighttime. I don't think I'll be able to do things if I use it in the morning, you know? So I use it every night, when I'm tucked in bed and about to catch up on some tv shows on my iPad. After rubbing the product real good on my hands and cuticles, I let it sit there for about an hour, an hour and a half before letting my hands get caught on my blanket, pillow, or hair. In the morning, I'll wake up to smooth, soft hands and well moisturized cuticles.
Overall, I recommend this product to: people with dry hands, people who want to bring their dry cuticles back to life, people who want smooth hands, people who like almond and almond-scented things, and people who just love their hand creams. It's so freaking good, you guys, try it.
I'm well aware that this tub isn't the most hygienic packaging in the world so I urge you to have a scooper of some sort: a spatula, a coffee stirrer, a small spoon, you get the gist. Oh, and if you're travelling, decant some of this into a small jar. It'll last you for a decent time. ;)
