Two Thumbs Up: Bioré Makeup Remover for Eye & Lip

by - Friday, January 16, 2015

Sorry this took so long but I'm ready to share the makeup remover I've been loving for the past few weeks. Ready?

The makeup remover I'm talking about is the Bioré Makeup Remover for Eye & Lip. I first found these cute little bottles in a Watsons (or was it Sasa?) sale in Singapore back in the summer of 2014. I was hesitant to purchase one at first because I thought it was just another Asian makeup remover that's mediocre but then I decided to anyway because one, it's cheap; two, it's cute; and three, I have a weird obsession with anything that costs S$2.

Let me go back to where I said I thought it was a mediocre makeup remover. I had my doubts because I had a disappointing experience with an Asian makeup remover before this, the Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion which I reviewed back in 2013. Honestly, I don't get the hype. It did a bad job in removing the toughest makeup product I have (my waterproof Maybelline Cat Eyes mascara) and it felt like I went through a dozen cotton pads just to remove everything on my face. I thought the Bioré one's just like the Bifesta. But I was so damn wrong, girl.

Before I begin raving about it, let me share some info about it first. Here's some product info from Kao SG:

"With its micro cleansing formula, Biore Makeup Remover for Eye and Lip softens even heavily layered waterproof mascara for easy removal. Gentle on the eye and lashes, it reduces the need for excessive, hard and repeated wiping around eye area. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid moisturizing ingredients to keep skin around eyes moist. Leaves no oily residue. Also suitable for removing lip makeup."

This makeup remover actually reminds me of my fave makeup remover of all time, the L'Oreal Gentle Lip & Eye Make-up Remover. Both makeup removers needs to be shaken first to combine two separate liquids together. Even if they are both very similar, I find the Bioré makeup remover less greasy than the L'Oreal. Both are fragrance-free as well.

In action. How amazeballs is that! All I did was press the cotton pad with product on my eye for a couple of seconds, then BAM! 90% of my mascara, yes the Maybelline one!, came off. I was astounded, like Holy Sh-t! astounded. I've never used a makeup remover that can remove my mascara in one go.

Used it to remove the lip product I was wearing too and here you can see that most of the product just came off, and that's without wiping. All I did was press the cotton pad on my lips for a few seconds. I am seriously amazed at how effective this product is. In addition to it removing makeup easily, it's also very gentle, quite the opposite of the Bioré Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets. While the facial sheets sting my eyes like there's no tomorrow, this makeup remover is like water. It won't cloud your vision or make your eyes red or hurt your eyes. And anything that's gentle on my eyes is a winner.

Okkay, let me add one last photo of the makeup remover in action. This actually reminded me of their ad haha.

So in conclusion, the Bioré Makeup Remover for Eye & Lip is a big winner for me. It's gentle, it effectively and effortlessly removes makeup, and it's worth every penny. I bought the 18ml bottle for S$2 and I would definitely buy myself a bigger bottle next time, although I love the 18ml bottles hehe. I'd say it's as effective as the L'Oreal Gentle Lip & Eye Make-up Remover but less greasy, a tad more effective than the Maybelline Eye & Lip Makeup Remover, and definitely more preferable than the Bifesta Sebum Cleansing Lotion.

What's your favorite makeup remover?
